This is the one weekend in the year when many of London’s private garden squares and other gardens open their gates to welcome visitors. A number of special activities will take place at some of the gardens and this year Loire Valley Wines are offering free wine-tasting at selected gardens.
The Japanese inspired roof garden at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) is well worth a visit.
I have posted my photo on my blog. Somehow this photo found its way back to me from your pickeled politics blog.
The message I want to send from the photo of this brown nitwit in a swastika T-shirt is that rasicm is not only the prerogative of the white man, the brown or black man can be as rascist and even more dangerous. You should tell that to you pickled politics friends. They need to develop a perspective on life.
i see you have been contributing to Pickled Politics! good good look forward to seeing more from the old Guardian crew down there..
But I am not looking for the old guardian crew. I am finally sick of debating issues with obstinate communists. These days I am in search of some better company – decent artistic minded capitalists.
I think your blog is better than pickled politics. Why? Because at least you talk about all the world, where as pickled politics talks about only one section of UK population (south Asians). That makes pickled politics a ghetto blog – extremely sectarian. I think it is rascist of them to espouse the cause of only one community.
But I suspect that you are the owner of that blog. After all Sonia and Sunny rhyme very well. You could as well be a male called Sunny or he could be a female called Sonia.
π shabash – i must mention this to Sunny! You know – Sunny is a very well known journalist – after all – he writes for Comment is Free on the Guardian.. and speaks on national media etc. A bit of a hard masquerade for me..
Now the interesting thing about ‘espousing the needs of only one community’ – is this. If you don’t have a platform like PP = it’s often heard that oh the asian community hasn’t got a voice and don’t like being involved. Even though individuals who happen to be Asian may be democratically involved -because it’s not under the banner of ‘Asian’ people get to say stuff like that. So i think that’s why the PP blog exists. Similarly, though i am against war and terror of all form ( not just opposed to terrorism and pro-state warfare like most of the folks around..) and condemn it regularly and write about it all the time, and happen to be a Muslim person, you hear certain commentators say ah well we haven’t noticed any people of ‘muslim descent’ talking sensibly so they must all be in favour of terrorism. what they mean is that because i didn’t spend myself marking myself out as a Muslim against violence, then my voice and participation doesn’t count.
in any case i shall ignore people like that. moi i’m an individual and the only ‘community’ i’m interested in the global community on earth. the only voice i put forth is mine! and as for anyone who’s more narrowly focused and expect everyone to be equally parochial they can fuck right off.
π but i do find it amusing you think that PP is me..
There you go! Now you find that you have to explain to me your religion. Why should I care what your religion is? The problem with the muslim community (in INdia as well) is that they are SO VERY much conscious about religion. They take umbrage at everything.
I must tell you that as long as you are conscious of your religion, other people will be the same.
When will you realize that religion is a obsolete concept. No sensible person ever gives a damn about any religion. Religion is like a drug once you take it you are constantly on the high! π In fact religious fundamentalists are worse than communists.
I just noticed the flicker photos in your blog. Who are those two pretty chicks whose photo you have posted. They are not you, I am sure. Because you are PP.
not at all you misunderstand me again. i was referring to how people ‘place’ each other in demographic groups. and then criticize that ‘group’ for not having any people who are active in a ‘civic’ sense. i was simply pointing out that though i don’t categorize myself into any groups, people out there are always doing that for you. hence the PP have taken that on board themselves.
π
my lack of religion or any such matter is no-one’s business but my own and not something i would go around focusing on!
Why thank you IC! And I’m sure my sister will be very flattered also – i’ll pass on the compliment.
